Who We Are

At Give A Watt, we believe there’s a better way that is beyond pity. A way that leads to lasting change and a brighter future for all.

For decades, charity has been disconnected from sustainability. Charity meant giving to the less fortunate, or providing temporary access to basic necessities without the means to be self-sufficient. This type of continual giving can be disempowering and does not always create long-term change for good.

Today, we know sustainable change is the only way to break the cycle of generational poverty. Technological innovation allows us to both provide necessities for today, and transform the future for our most vulnerable children tomorrow.

We are advocates for change, accessibility, sustainability, and power for all.

Give A Watt is precisely what our name says: to give power! We give power, and along with it, a wealth of knowledge, hope, and an abundance of possibility. We are a 501C3 nonprofit organization working to bring power through solar greenhouses and education to the world to create a more sustainable planet.

The Story

Our Beginning

It all started 35 years ago when my father and three brothers crossed the Arizona border into the remote villages of Sonora, Mexico. This trip and what they experienced changed their lives, the lives of our family and the lives of thousands of abandoned children for years to come. What they encountered all those years ago were hungry children living in cardboard boxes barely surviving. They also met courageous people desperate to help these children but only lacked the tools to do so.

My father, moved by what he saw, took a courageous action, he built an orphanage, and named it after my mother, Casa Elizabeth. This one act of compassion and generosity has affected the lives of over 2,000 children throughout the years.

The story now continues with Give A Watt. A vehicle to move this orphanage and many others around the world to a more sustainable future. A future where they will no longer be dependent on charity but will be able to grow and learn and create for themselves a bright future.
